This appointment includes both cervical cytology and high-risk HPV testing.
A cervical sample will be taken during a speculum examination and sent to the laboratory. The sample is assessed for high-risk types of human papillomavirus (HPV) and the cervical cells are also examined for any abnormal cellular changes.
Before the test, we will review your screening history, discuss any relevant symptoms or concerns, and explain the procedure. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions before the sample is taken.
This is the more comprehensive of our two cervical screening options, as it assesses both HPV status and cervical cell changes.
If you only require HPV screening, we also offer a lower-cost HPV Testing Only option, which checks for high-risk HPV but does not include examination of the cervical cells.
This is a private cervical screening service and does not replace NHS follow-up, colposcopy or specialist assessment where these are recommended.
